![]() One difference in my routing method is that I purposely prefer to use the software monitoring feature when doing the re-amp step. I was actually trying to simplify a bit by not recording the processed track at the same time as the DI track, but you can certainly do that if you want to capture that during the initial recording. It sounds like this is indeed all working in Reaper then, and Phil's method certainly works fine too. OK, thanks for looking into this too Phil. It still worked, as in it was still recording, but there's no direct monitoring that way, of course. I did try it setting the output block on the Helix USB 3/4 and setting the input of track 3 to Stereo: USB 3/4. The one thing with this is I'm not messing with the monitor selections at all in Reaper. Hit record, on Reaper, and the dry track plays back, and I hear and see the new guitar track being recorded. On the Helix, set the input block for the patch to be USB 3/4. Arm the third track (disarm other tracks).Ĥ. Hit "add new hardware output", and select USB 3/4. In the Routing dialog box for track 2, uncheck "Master/Parent Send". After recording, create a third new track, and set its input to Stereo: USB 1/2. Arm both tracks, hit record, and record a part.ģ. ![]() Set the input of the second to Mono: USB 7.Ģ. Set the input of the first on to Stereo: USB 1/2 and arm that track. I started with a new project in Reaper just to make sure I wasn't cheating at all.ġ. OK, I had a few minutes to mess around with this tonight. I'm actually not sure why it required these Parent Channel settings, but it seems to work! Maybe someone more Reaper savvy has a simpler method? I can then record to "print" the new Helix-processed into track 2. Now with my 2nd audio track in Reaper set to input of USB 3/4, I arm the track for recording and turn on the monitoring and it works - I hear only the playback of the DI track coming though the 2nd track and processed by the current Helix preset. Apparently this stops the track 1 playback output from being fed to the USB 1/2 out.Īnd then I ALSO needed to configure the Helix preset so that both the input block and output block are set to "USB 3/4". What I found I had to do in Reaper now is.įirst I recorded into a Reaper track (track 1) following the Manual's steps exactly for the Reaper and Helix hardware settings.īut for the next step, to route the playback of track 1 to a 2nd track (track 2), the trick I found was to change track 1's "Parent Channels" setting in the track 1's Routing window from "1/2" to be "3/4". ![]() I'm not a Reaper expert, but I recalled it working the way phil_m described, but that doesn't seem to work for me either now. I gave this a try on the latest Reaper on Mac. ![]()
